Sunstone Capital invests DKK 20m in Danish medico firm(2010.02.08)Nordic venture company Sunstone Capital has invested DKK 20m in medico firm FBC Device, which develops spinal implants for patients with back problemsNordic venture company Sunstone Capital has invested DKK 20m (USD 3.8m) in Danish fledgling firm FBC Device, which develops spinal implants for patients with back problems, reports financial daily newspaper Børsen. Sunstone Capital focuses on developing and expanding early-stage life science and technology companies, and has about 30 companies in its portfolio.
Investment director Magnus Corfitzen of Sunstone Capital says in a press release: "The investment in FBC Device is promising because although the company is at an early stage of its development, the FBC Device implant has major growth potential. We look forward to help progress the company so we can develop a product which can improve the treatment of some of the patients who are plagued by chronic back pain."
FBC Device was founded in 2005 by orthopaedic surgeon Finn Bjarke Christensen, who is delighted with the agreement:
"The investment will help patients in the future since it gives FBC Device the opportunity to further develop the implant, which is movable when it is inserted into the back, so that the patient's natural back bend is established. The implant is designed so that the bone subsequently heals around the implant and makes the joint rigid in the optimal position for the patient. The wear on the adjacent joints is thereby reduced, just as the risk of needing to replace the implant is reduced." More news 2010.02.08 Tip a friend last updated: 2010.02.07 |
